Meet the artist
Adrienne is a free spirit and a proud lover of the pure elements of nature and creativity. Her gratitude for the simple beauty she sees in everyday moments and her desire to share its healing magic is what feeds her work. Showing in various galleries in Nova Scotia and online her work has sold as originals, originally embellished prints, and commissions in both Canada and the United States. Adrienne paints daily in her lakeside studio sipping a generous cup of fresh pressed coffee celebrating her love of water and light. She also runs her own private gallery where many collections debut virtually and by appointment.
Where did it all begin? Well....
There are often moments in our lives that bury themselves so far into our souls that they truly end up defining everything we see, feel, and do.
For Adrienne, this began during her annual tropical holidays with her family. From the time she was old enough to walk Adrienne spent the spring in the warm healing embrace of her multigenerational family and the soothing sea breezes. Learning to build sand castles, swim in the bounce of the waves, discover the glow of the vibrant flowers and the beauty of the dappled light as it danced below the Casuarina trees in the afternoon, and of course learning to paint beside her doting godfather. It was a magical time when the family came together without distraction of the busy life of a surgeon father and the rush of the city back home.
Was it the glow of the sun, or the smell and energy of the surf, was it the sweetness of the freshest of fruits, or the salt air that tangled hair as it blew hypnotically, or perhaps the mysterious dappled light along the paths where many stories were told and eagerly listened to .....who's to say. Certainly, it was the warm loving ways of the time spent safe, indulged in exploration of all things beautiful, and the memories of fresh seafood dinners and quiet games and puzzles as the sun faded elegantly into a blissful glow lighting everything with yet another magical energy. Memories, foundations, and harkenings of time on the laps of family members of all generations........
Whatever you think it was, the energy of the water, the magic of the light, and the emotions of nostalgic delight as a young child have defined the way this artist sees things.
An avid water enthusiast, Adrienne has been swimming, sailing, kayaking, and frolicking in the waves for as long as she can remember. The soothing sounds of water in its many forms is a healing force she cannot be long without. Equally essential is her perpetual attraction to light. Whether creating diamonds on the ripples of the water, or effortlessly glowing through the back of a leaf or petal, light embodies beauty, hope, and healing.
As a creator, Adrienne has been painting since she could hold a brush. Always curious and open to exploration, painting and drawing and messing around with materials just flow naturally. The memories forged in the Bahamas inspire the glow she expresses. The innocent sense of wonder and the joys of the simplicity of things keeps her work bright and fresh.
With a deep-seated faith in possibilities, curiosity and the belief that life is full of opportunity Adrienne's work reminds the viewers that the world still holds wonder and hope. The belief that refocusing on the simple beauties available to all every day can heal daily disconnects, and show pathways towards the safe positivity and freedom she felt as a child. Inspired to share this peace and healing experience she paints.
